The Additional Qualification Course, Language, Grades 7 and 8 explores the theoretical foundations, the development of learners, program planning and implementation, assessment, the learning environment and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning. Candidates will participate in an adult learning model, where it will be important to create support networks, receive feedback from colleagues, the instructor, and share their learning with others. There will also be opportunities for professional reading, reflection, dialogue, and expression. Candidates will be engaged in meaningful, authentic and relevant work, and make connections between theory and practice with each learning opportunity. In addition, candidates will be given opportunities to reflect on professional materials and dialogue, as appropriate, to participate in experiential and authentic school-based experiences. On-line delivery of the ETFO Language, Grades 7 and 8 course will engage candidates in 21st Century learning opportunities in our ever-evolving technological age.
The design, course content and implementation of the course supports effective and reflective teacher education practices. Emphasis on strategies that are relevant, meaningful and highly adaptive to for classroom use are pivotal to this course.
