The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) is the union representing 83,000 elementary teachers, occasional teachers, Designated Early Childhood Educators (DECEs) and educational and professional support personnel in Ontario’s elementary public schools. The Federation has 76 locals across the province. ETFO is known as one of the foremost providers of teacher professional learning in Canada and is well respected for providing quality professional learning programs for its members.
Additional Qualification (AQ) courses are open to all Teachers and Occasional Teachers who meet the prerequisites as outlined by the Ontario College of Teachers. ETFO AQ courses are accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers and courses follow course curriculum guidelines and hours of study as set by the College and required by legislation. ETFO AQ courses are recognized as additional qualification credits by the Qualifications Evaluation Council of Ontario (QECO) and support movement within the salary grid. Teachers may use ETFO AQ courses to improve their salary grid placement as identified by QECO. As each individual teacher has different requirements for salary grid advancement, we suggest you contact QECO to verify your grid advancement requirements prior to registering for a course.
