ETFO AQ offers Additional Qualification courses to educators on behalf of ETFO, the union representing over eighty-three thousand elementary, secondary, occasional teachers, and education and professional support personnel in Ontario’s elementary public schools.
ETFO AQ is known as one of the foremost providers of professional development courses in Canada and is well respected for providing quality focused learning programs for educators.
As an accredited Additional Qualification (AQ) course provider, curriculum guidelines and hours of study follow those set by the College and required by legislation.
Our courses are open to all Teachers and Occasional Teachers who meet the prerequisites as defined by the Ontario College of Teachers and are recognized as AQ credits by the Qualifications Evaluation Council of Ontario (QECO). Visit the OCT website to learn more about prerequisites and specific requirements.
ETFO AQ courses are unique from those offered by the other providers because of the ETFO edge.
AQs are offered by a variety of different providers: faculties of education, district school boards, and teacher affiliates. As one of the largest AQ providers in the province, ETFO makes its AQ offerings a superior learning experience by:
- having courses developed by educators who understand the realities of today’s classrooms;
- developing course content that is practical, well-grounded in effective practice, and has an appropriate balance between theory and practice;
- recognizing the delicate work/life balance of educators; and
- reviewing courses regularly and updating them to make certain that the key learning, course activities, and resources remain current.
ETFO AQ courses provide for a superior learning experience, they are also less expensive than those offered by other providers. We are committed to making professional learning affordable for all educators in Ontario.
