This course focuses on the knowledge, skills and practical application of adapting curriculum learning for Second-Language Learners. It examines how to develop and create positive learning experiences that reflect care, professional knowledge, and ethical practices in an integrated delivery model. In this Additional Qualifications course, the objective is to find meaningful and affirming activities that motivate students to acquire the necessary language skills that enhance their learning and understanding in the classroom. This course is rooted in the belief that every student can be successful irrespective of their first language or linguistic background and recognizes the importance of the orientation process, understanding that every learner needs to adjust to a new social environment and language in a unique way and at an individual pace with the right instructional support.
Prerequisites
- OCT member in good standing with a permanent or transitional teaching certificate
- Basic Qualifications in Primary or Junior divisions or Intermediate or Senior divisions in general studies
