There are many opportunities for leadership in the teaching profession. There are a wide range of roles that teachers can assume, in order to support school and student success. Teachers can lead in a variety of ways, and can serve as leaders among their peers. In Teacher Leadership Part 1, candidates develop an understanding of the foundational skills required in order to build and maintain trusting relationships and critically explore the qualities of innovative leaders, the role of growth mindset in leadership, conflict resolution and courageous conversation. Teachers will examine the use of data in teacher leadership, use practical situations through the use of case studies, and investigate conflict resolution strategies.
Prerequisites
- OCT member in good standing with a permanent or temporary teaching certificate
- Basic Qualifications in Primary or Junior divisions or Intermediate or Senior divisions in general studies
