This course, Teaching English Language Learners Part 2 is designed to further develop and build on the knowledge gained in Part 1. It focuses on the skills necessary for the design, delivery and assessment of English as a Second-Language program, and evaluates current practices in teaching ELLS. Candidates will explore practical learning experiences that will assist in making the connections between cultural considerations, backgrounds, instructional materials and cross cultural understanding. Candidates will also have the opportunity to explore an integrated delivery model, topics and issues of particular relevance to their teaching circumstance.
Prerequisites
- OCT member in good standing with a permanent teaching certificate
- Successful completion of the Additional Qualification course: English as a Second Language, Part 1; and
- One year of successful teaching experience, certified by a supervisory officer.
- Submission of Certificate of Teaching Experience Form to certify experience (found in the Policies and Forms section)
