This course is designed to enhance the leadership, skills and knowledge of the participants in the area of English Language Learners. Candidates will consolidate the strategies they have learned by teaching students from diverse cultural, linguistic, social and academic backgrounds, experiences and stories. The course supports and prepares participants as a specialist for leadership to colleagues and the school board as a whole. This course is designed to enhance the leadership, skills and knowledge of the participants in the area of English Language Learners. This course will be of interest to all educators who would like to become leaders in their districts in the areas of English as a Second-Language (ESL) and English Literacy Development (ELD).
Prerequisites
- OCT member in good standing with a permanent or transitional teaching certificate
- Successful completion of the Additional Qualification course: English as a Second Language, Part 2; and
- Two years of successful teaching experience, with one year working with ELL students, certified by a supervisory officer.
- Submission of Certificate of Teaching Experience Form to certify experience (found in the Policies and Forms section)
