This Additional Qualification course will be of interest to all educators who wish to broaden and deepen their knowledge and skills in developing and implementing programs for First Nations, Métis and Inuit children. Candidates will learn about historical and current experiences of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples through the lenses of Indigenous stories, arts, voices, perspectives and worldviews and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. The components of the course will explore the Ontario curriculum and policies, Standards of Practice, theoretical foundations, meeting the needs of FNMI students, program planning and delivery, instructional strategies, assessment and evaluation, classroom management and shared support for learners.
Prerequisites
- OCT member in good standing
- Permanent Teaching Certificate (Certificate of Qualification and Registration)
- Basic Qualifications in at least one of the following divisions:

- Intermediate
- Senior
