This course, Teaching Students with Communication Needs (Learning Disabilities), provides an in-depth study, knowledge and information that will build educator capacity, with respect to teaching students with Learning Disabilities (LD). This course focuses on the identifying and recognizing LDs, various assessments, instructional strategies, Individual Education Plan (IEP), transitions, advocacy and community supports.
Educators will utilize Ministry documents, Policy/Program Memorandums (PPM) and other various print and/or web resources that reflect current practices to develop and implement responsive and respectful programs based on appropriate, equitable and inclusive tools.
Prerequisites
- OCT member in good standing
- Permanent Teaching Certificate (Certificate of Qualification and Registration)
- Basic Qualifications in at least one of the following divisions:

- Junior
- Intermediate
- Senior
