Visual Arts Part 1 provides a purposeful and practical base for educators looking for ways to develop curriculum, teaching and learning strategies aligned with the Ministry curriculum guide in visual arts, and assessment strategies supported by the Growing Success document, Ministry initiatives, Ontario legislation and regulations, OCT Standards for Practice, and Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession.
The focus of the course is to create, support, and encourage a growing awareness of the many forms, genres and styles of art, develop and reinforce knowledge and understanding of the student’s stages of the creative and critical analysis process, nurture instructional approaches that support inclusive and equitable learning environments designed to connect to student’s developmental stages, student interest and well-being, and practice a range of “best practice” teaching strategies for approaching lesson and unit planning, and assessment in visual art.
