At ETFO AQ we are building a community of lifelong learners through engagement, empowerment, and education.
We are excited to launch our new credentialing program for the following courses that have possible board subsidies:
- Mathematics
- Special Education
- Teaching Students with Communication Needs (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
- Indigenous knowledge courses
Micro-credentials are verifiable credentials from accredited AQ providers that educators can share with colleagues and employers through social media.
Micro-credentials provide educators the opportunity to develop necessary skills, practical tools, and instructional strategies.

In winter 2025 our credentialing program will launch for courses that offer AQ subsidies.

See course calendar for course offerings and check with your board to learn what subsidies might be available to you.
Micro-credentials provide teachers with the opportunity to develop skills, strategies, and practical tools for use in the classroom. This information can be shared within your school, board, and community.
When you sign up for an ETFO AQ course that is part of the credentialing program, you will be automatically enrolled.
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded a micro-badge that can be used towards a meta-badge.
If a candidate has completed the final course towards the program, a meta-badge demonstrating completion will be awarded.
Candidates must complete a minimum of two courses with ETFO AQ for the Schedule D badge and a minimum of three courses for the Schedule C badge to be eligible for the program.
There are three different programs or Meta-Badges available:
- Specialist or Schedule D
- Schedule C: Single Session
Each program requires a different number of AQ courses or Micro-Badges to be obtained to complete the program and receive the full credential.
The Schedule D or Specialist Meta-Badge is comprised of three micro-badges. The Schedule C Meta-Badge is comprised of five micro-badges.
Upon completion of a single AQ course toward a credential, candidates will receive a micro-badge. Upon successful completion of all courses, candidates will receive the Meta-Badge.
As an example, to receive the Specialist Badge in Mathematics, you must complete two of the three micro-badges with ETFO AQ, i.e., complete Math Part 1, Math Part 2, or Math Specialist.
To receive the Schedule C Badge (image of badge) candidates must complete a minimum of three Schedule C courses with ETFO AQ.
All educators who are members of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) are welcome to enroll in our AQ courses. See OCT course prerequisites page for more details.
ETFO AQ will allow non-OCT Members to enrol in the Schedule C Credential Program.
Under this condition, ETFO AQ will not report successful completion of the course to the Ontario College of Teachers now, or at any time in the future, even if the candidate becomes an OCT member. However, candidates can share their badge with their school, board, and community.
