Teaching Experience
For admission into a Part 2 Additional Qualifications course:
- You must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;
- You must hold the corresponding Part 1 AQ (shown on your Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualifications); and
- You must provide evidence of a least one year (194 days) of successful teaching experience in Ontario certified by the appropriate supervisory officer (not a principal) or evidence of at least one year of successful teaching experience outside of Ontario certified by the appropriate supervisory officer (not a principal). Complete the Teaching Experience Form and submit this with your application or prior to the course starting date.
Please use the Teaching Experience Form below and submit this to ETFO prior to the course starting date.
For admission into a Specialist Additional Qualifications course:
- You must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;
- You must hold the corresponding Part 1, and Part 2 AQ (shown on your Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualifications); and
- You must provide evidence of at least two years (388 days) of successful teaching experience, including one year of experience in Ontario in the subject in which the qualification is being sought. This experience must be certified by the appropriate supervisory officer (not a principal). Complete the Teaching Experience Form and submit this with your application or prior to the course starting date.

For admission into a Part 1 Principal’s Qualifications course:
- To have5 years successful teaching (970 days) verified by a Superintendent (not a principal) in your district school board;
- To be certified in 3 divisions, one being Intermediate (e.g., Primary, Junior, Intermediate); and
- To have one of the following:
- 2 specialist certificates, or
- a master’s degree, or
- one specialist certificates and half a masters degree.
Request for Deferral
To defer a course you must fill out the Course Deferral Form provided below and fax to ETFO-AQ at (416)-355-6753. The course deferral will be processed according to the policy set out on the ‘policies’ page.
Request for Withdrawal
To withdraw from a course you must fill out the Course Withdrawal Form provided below and fax to ETFO-AQ at (416)-355-6753. Refunds will be based on when the withdraw request is received according to the timelines spelled out on the ‘policies’ page.
Conditional Admission, PQP Part 1
For admission into a Part 1 Principal’s Qualifications course:
If applicants have successfully completed all of the pre-requisite courses to be admitted into PQP Part I, but a course does not yet appear on the applicant’s OCT Certificate of Qualification, this form is used to confirm the successful completion of the additional qualification course by the provider of the course.

For admission into a Part 2 Principal’s Qualifications course:
If applicants have successfully completed PQP Part I, but it does not yet appear on the applicant’s OCT Certificate of Qualification, this form is used to confirm the successful completion of PQP Part I by the provider of the course.
